Nagomi Japan Architectural Business Card

Hue Studio designed these business cards for Nagomi Japan, a Melbourne-based company that specialises in Japanese architectural design and supply products.

The business cards have a stunning layout focusing on the Kumiko style, with a blend of modern and traditional aesthetics.

Hue Studio managed the rebranding project, including logo design, print collateral and website development.

The goal of the design was to create a strong brand identity with a blend of traditional Japanese and modern Australian vibe.

Pattern and Logo Design

One of the most fascinating elements of the brand identity is the pattern design.

“From centuries ago, and still today, the art of Japanese woodcraftsmanship is world class, using practical, specialised tools with precision to create spectacular products,” said Vian Risanto, the creative director of Hue Studio.

“This is where we draw the inspiration from, particularly the art of Kumiko* when creating the branding.”

Note(*): a traditional Japanese woodworking technique that involves assembling wooden pieces without using nails.

The brand name, Nagomi, means harmony in Japanese.

The logo design was inspired by the brand name itself. It uses the word “和,” which is the word Nagomi in Japanese’s Kanji form, which successfully captures the essence of the brand. It’s simple yet elegant!

According to the founder of Nagomi Japan, their brand name represents the flow of life, a sense of togetherness, adaptation and content.

Their dedication shines through in the passion, design and wood craftsmanship of their products and services. Harmony in everyday living from traditional to contemporary Japanese design.

Typography and Colour Palette

The typeface used in the logo is TT Firs Neue Var, a modern sans serif font.

Apart from being legible, it complements the traditional Japanese aesthetic of the brand beautifully!

Nagomi business cards come in two colour variations: brown and white.

The colour brown was inspired by the natural beauty of wood. The contact details side remains white for both card versions.

The Kumiko-inspired pattern and warm colour palette used in the business cards add sophistication and warmth, making them stand out from the crowd.

The Printing of Business Cards

These business cards were printed by Taylor’d Press, a printing company in Australia.

“The cards were offset printed in black on both sides and embossed on Rives Tradition 320gsm card,” Vian said.

The use of embossing adds depth and texture to the design, making the cards look elegant and unique.

This is truly an exceptional business card design that will leave a lasting impression on any potential clients.
