Yonobi Ceramics business cards

Yonobi Ceramics Studio Business Card

Dina Creative Space designed these business cards for Yonobi, a Copenhagen-based ceramics studio offering pottery classes and operating an online shop for handmade ceramics and pottery.

Upon first glance, one can instantly feel the elegance and natural vibe exuded by these business cards.

Apart from the name, the enlarged typography and contrasting colours all made the brand stand out.

Brand Image

YŌNOBI curates a variety of unique pottery crafted by ceramic artists worldwide.

Each piece carries its own captivating story, showcasing the inspirations, ideas and exquisite techniques of its respective artist.

The brand name, YŌNOBI, consists of two Japanese kanji: “yo” (用), which means use or application, and “bi” (美), which means beauty.

Together, YŌNOBI expresses the concept of functionality and aesthetics.

In line with that, Dina created a sophisticated business card design that reflects the brand’s philosophy of finding beauty in the practical use of everyday objects.

Symbol and Monogram

According to Dina, the circular element in the symbol/monogram represents a ceramic object, depicting YŌNOBI’s identity as a ceramic studio and store.

“The imperfections and personal character within the circular shape embody the essence of handmade ceramics and the uniqueness of each piece.”

“It symbolises the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship, individuality, and the celebration of imperfections as inherent beauty.”

“The circular monogram captures the spirit of YŌNOBI’s ceramics, showcasing their artistry and the charm of one-of-a-kind creations.”

Elegant and Modern Typography

The logotype was a combination of Helvetica Neue and a custom font.

“The logotype uses a clean and modern typeface with elegant and balanced letterforms to reflect the brand’s emphasis on aesthetics,” Dina explained.

“It also conveys a sense of sophistication and craftsmanship.”

“For the body text, a legible and versatile font is chosen to complement the logotype, establishing a harmonious relationship and enhancing the overall visual appeal of the brand.”

“The selection of typefaces is based on the desired attributes and characteristics of the brand, including simplicity, elegance, and a touch of Japanese influence.”

“It is recommended to consult a professional graphic designer or typographer who can create or suggest typefaces that align with these qualities and effectively represent the brand.”

Yonobi Ceramics Color Palette

Organic Colour Palette

The colour palette used for the business card is inspired by nature and the Japanese aesthetic.

It includes soft and earthy tones, such as muted greens, warm browns (honey), and subtle white, which evoke a sense of tranquillity and organic beauty.

“These colours are chosen to create a harmonious and calming visual experience that aligns with the brand’s emphasis on simplicity, elegance, and a connection to the natural world,” Dina added.

Pottery Illustrations

The custom illustrations used on other branding materials, such as posters and packaging, are inspired by simple shapes and different ceramic products.

Despite their minimalist composition, they capture the essence of the brand, exuding a unique and captivating appeal that resonates with the target audience.

Printing of Business Cards

Dina suggested having the business cards printed on a high-quality, textured or uncoated paper stock to add a tactile and artisanal feel to them.

She advised, “This could include options like textured cotton paper or recycled paper, which align with YŌNOBI’s emphasis on craftsmanship and sustainability.”

“Additionally, techniques such as letterpress or embossing can be employed to add depth and texture to the card design.”

“These techniques enhance the visual appeal of the business card, creating a sense of craftsmanship and attention to detail that resonates with YŌNOBI’s brand image.”

All in all, this is a fresh and authentic business card design that should not be missed!
