VeloIn Bike Specialist Business Card: Minimalist & Dynamic

8chDesign designed these business cards for VeloIn, a Swiss bike specialist shop based in Switzerland.

Established in 2016, VeloIn specialises in e-bikes and gravel bikes. It offers high-quality service, repairs, and professional advice for various bicycles.

The VeloIn team is always in the fast lane, updating their knowledge on the latest bike technologies and developments from manufacturers and importers. Their mission is to ensure that every cyclist reaches their destination incident-free and with the sheer joy of a pleasant riding experience.

Now, imagine translating this passion into design – that’s where 8chDesign comes into play.

Brand Image & Logo Design

According to Oliver Hess, the founder of 8chDesign, the goal of the branding was to create an active lifestyle image infused with dynamism.

“We aimed to emphasise VeloIn’s quality and expertise through a clean and minimalistic approach.”

“The logo draws inspiration from bike design elements, and in this presentation, you can see that the business cards are displayed in a peloton-inspired manner, perfectly aligning with the cycling theme.”

Design Process

Oliver also shared how the entire idea came to fruition for VeloIn.

“The creative journey kicked off with a lively brainstorming session, followed by sketching various design routes. Then, two rounds of presentations and a final correction round brought the logo to life.”

“To maintain consistency, we put together a logo manual that contains detailed info on the fonts, colours, free spaces, and logo applications for future reference.”

“Our full-service project also included the design of a cycling jersey and corresponding bidons.”

Typography & Colours

The typeface used for the logotype is Montserrat.

Oliver explained that the selection of Montserrat stems from its popularity as a sans-serif typeface renowned for its modern and clean design.

“The decision was influenced by its excellent readability and versatility.”

“Additionally, the availability of a web font aligns seamlessly with the client’s budget constraints, avoiding the need for costly designer font licences.”

As for the colour palette, the incorporation of red draws inspiration from Swiss design principles, while the choice of orange serves as a complementary colour, harmonising elegantly with white and #303030.

Printing of Business Cards

These business cards were printed by Heller Druck, a printing company in Cham, Zug, Switzerland.

“I recommended a robust paper option, such as a 400g Munken rough, for the business card. This choice lends a tactile and substantial feel,” Oliver said.

And the printing?

“A clean offset print was suggested, with the option to consider 2 Pantone colours for added sophistication if the budget allows.”
