Sonia Margea designed these business cards for her personal branding as a graphic designer whose work spans from editorial design & branding to UI/UX and packaging.
“First of all, I would say that through my logo – as well as, through the entire project in general – I was looking for a proper way to describe the dual quality of being simple, plain and somehow even humble as well,” Sonia Margea said.
“In conjunction with being bold, exuberant and vigorous at the same time without contradicting or annulling one another. Qualities that could describe both myself in general and the way I enjoy doing my work.”
Clean and Bold Typography
The typography used in the visual identity is Helvetica, which according to Sonia, a typeface that intrigues her in the sense that she could actually find herself identified with it.
“I believe it is impartial, neutral & fresh, honest, clean and somehow refined. As well as its adaptable, versatile and universal nature is no coincidence for being chosen to communicate to such a fairly open audience as my brand intends to target.”
The Monochrome Colour Palette & Typography
Sonia used mainly black and white for her branding. When asked about the reasons behind it, she replied, “Black and white, on the first hand, capture that image of modernity and minimalism I intend to divulge. On the other hand, it is a group of colours whose simplicity and lack of pretensions literally makes them capable of fitting in anywhere with no exception.”
“As for purple, it is the amethyst’s colour – the lucky stone of my zodiac sign – that makes Pisces brave. It enriches their spirituality and creativity. So, if black and white are neutral and steady, then purple is the bold and outstanding colour in this equation.”
These business cards are not printed yet, but Sonia’s intention is to print them via Imprenta San Antonio, a local printing house and studio in Granada, Spain.
“There are not any special techniques regarding printing the cards. However, I believe coated paper with matt finish will be used,” she suggested.
