Matheus Ferreira designed these business cards for One1, an architecture firm located in Texas specialising in functional designs that focus on people’s needs without compromising on modern design aesthetics.
When it came to naming and crafting the brand image, the objective was to create an identity that’s minimalist yet contemporary.
The repetition of “1” in “One1” isn’t just a design choice but a deliberate move to reinforce the brand’s market position.
It’s also suggested that the unique name reflects the firm’s ambition to be the first architecture firm clients think of and a leader in their niche focused on excellence.
Logo Design
According to Matheus, the logo and visual identity centre around functionality through four pillars: plan, project, balance, and function.
They aim to visually convey One1’s core strength, that is, to create functional spaces that efficiently meet users’ needs while maintaining a sophisticated style.
We got to admit that the logo is a masterpiece in itself! It evokes an architectural project plan with its fine lines and the graceful overlapping of letters and number.
Those geometric shapes aren’t just for show, they strategically express “functionality.”
And if you look closely, you’ll spot an arrow that points upward, right where the letter “e” meets “1,” that symbolises progress, function and evolution. That’s pretty cool!
Typography
As you probably have guessed, the logotype is custom-designed specifically for this brand.
Matheus explained, “While the typography (for the logotype) might seem unconventional at first glance, it conveys the sense of everything being organised in its proper place, reflecting the brand’s commitment to function with refined aesthetics.”
Other typefaces used for the visual identity include Poppins for titles and Neue Haas Grotesk for body text. These font choices align perfectly with the brand’s dedication to quality, where form and function merge harmoniously.
Colour Palette
The brand’s colour palette was carefully chosen to reflect the firm’s values and characteristics.
“The combination of cool blue tones and earthy brown tones creates an interesting, modern contrast that mirrors the firm’s approach to functional and contemporary design,” Matheus said.
“This colour scheme is not only visually appealing but also conveys a sense of modernity and sophistication, aligning with the current design trends.”
Other visual elements inspired by the logo’s shapes can be seen across different branding materials, reinforcing the company’s image in relation to technology and innovation and strengthening its identity as a symbol of excellence and professionalism.
Printing of Business Cards
When it comes to card printing, Matheus recommended the client to print them on 300gsm coated paper with matte lamination only.
“The cards would be printed with ink on the front for the texts, and use a bevel and emboss printing technique for the logo on the back,” he said.
“This creates a remarkable visual impact with the paper seemingly rising to form the logo. Also, it adds an element of refinement and architectural elegance to the company’s contact material.”
