Smäk designed these business cards for their corporate branding as a visual communication agency specializing in food, gastronomy, hotels and lifestyle.
Besides branding, Smäk services include packaging design, print and web communication. To set them apart from their competitors, Smäk created a memorable design for their business cards.
“Our business cards are very colourful and illustrative. They stand out by their originality: by aligning the different cards, the design forms a puzzle, which accentuates the team spirit,” explained Corine Keiflin, the art director of Smäk.
“Furthermore, the cards are unique because of the printing technique and overall quality, besides the four-colour process printing.”
Illustrations & Printing
Speaking of the brand’s logotype, Corine continued, “The typography of Smäk (which means ‘taste’ in Dutch, also spelled ‘smaak’) was completely designed and created by us. The logotype represents the double ‘A’ as well as the Alsatian headdress, which refers to my origins.”
“The illustrations of our corporate identity represent the food world in a contemporary way with bright colours.”
These business cards were printed by Spind, which, according to Corine, an artisan printer who knows how to sublimate the products.
“The cards were offset-printed in four-colour, with matte lamination and a hot stamped copper-plated gold foil on 350gr coated matte paper. They have a very soft feel, which contrasts with the relief of the hot gilding.”
Extra: Greeting Cards & Coasters
Smäk also designed the company’s greeting cards with a geometrical design. They chose a white on white letterpress printing on the front side for an elegant touch (and a typographic black on the back). The paper used is called Antinoé Brut Blanc Vif 550g, which gives a thick and luxurious feel.
“The greeting cards were sent out accompanied by bespoke wooden coasters that we had designed with the same graphic style,” Corine added.
