Jão Matheus designed these business cards for his personal branding as a graphic designer based in Brazil.
“So, with the objective to make a personal re-branding and with myself, being the client, it was a really tough and fun process. With that in mind, I had to discover myself as a person and as a designer, searching for things I like, things that inspire me to be working on the area,” Jão said.
Jão also decided that his brand name should be ‘Jão’ instead of ‘João’ – which is a Brazilian nickname version – to be more informal, a little shorter, to match with the brand (to be simple, singular and casual). According to Jão, he created the visual identity based on his personality and work style – it’s contemporary, eccentric, modern yet with a retro touch.
“With the logo, I was inspired by the logos of the ’70s and ’80s, which has a modernist, geometric, precise style with unique shapes. With this, the visual identity was built to be modern, simple and friendly; with a harmonic color palette and only two fonts were used – serif and sans-serif.”
These business cards are yet to be printed but soon. “They will be printed on a 300 gsm paper with the size of 3.5 x 2 inches, in CMYK, with the respective brand colors on both sides,” Jão suggested.
