Alexandra Necula designed these business cards for Zany & Shy, a luxury jewelry brand made to order in Italy.
The business cards are part of the branding project managed by Alexandra, which includes a basic identity, a custom Shopify theme, social media content, and packaging design.
The cards have a minimal yet elegant aesthetic. The font and colour selections were carefully made to reflect the brand’s ethics and essence.
Brand Image and Goals
Hanan Moser founded Zany&Shy to empower women to embrace their beauty and cultivate self-care.
As Hanan puts it, “We deserve to truly see our beauty, know our worth, and wear feel-good jewelry that expresses our personalities.”
Hanan hopes her customers will identify with the brand’s name, knowing that they are equal parts zany and shy.
“Two sides of a real, vulnerable, and confident person come together in a declaration of self-love,” she remarked.
Typography and Monogram
The typeface used for the logotype is called Cyrene.
“We chose the Cyrene font because we find it elegant, sophisticated, timeless and it perfectly encompasses the personality of the brand – zany and shy,” Alexandra explained.
Apart from the logotype, Alexandra also created a monogram that adds the letters “Z” and “S” within the ampersand, as if they’re “playing” around the ampersand.
“It was an intentional choice that would reflect the zany word, while the fine contrast in the symbol’s line weight reflects the shy part.”
Colour Palette
Zany&Shy’s timeless jewelry pieces are ethically crafted with recyclable gold and traceable materials including lab-grown diamonds and gemstones.
That’s why Alexandra and her client opted for a green paper stock to reflect the brand’s ethical and sustainable aspects (lab-grown diamonds and recycled gold).
“The contact details were printed on ivory stock to lighten the overall vibe of the cards and to make the information more legible,” Alexandra said.
“We printed the graphics in gold foil, which was the most obvious colour choice for a fine jewelry brand baked entirely on gold and diamond materials.”
The Printing of Business Cards
These business cards were printed on natural textured coloured stock (green and ivory) for a more luxurious feel.
“We printed the graphics in hot-stamped, semi glossy gold foil,” Alexandra said.
“Overall, the business card design is simple and sophisticated, which is the style we look for in luxury brands.”
Not only does the business card look premium and luxurious, but it doesn’t shy away from using creative elements to convey the message of self-love and sustainability. Simply brilliant!
