Ryan Romanes, Moritz Moysig and Pollyanna Guthrie designed these business cards for Serpentyn, an Emirati cyber security firm in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Serpentyn’s mission is to empower organizations against the most sophisticated cyber threats and produce cyber intelligence personnel to defend the country’s critical assets, while also running training programmes educating Emirati youth about safe online practices.
According to one of the designers, Ryan, they worked with Noura Alomaira (the founder) to create a kinetic identity that references the inspiration behind the name ‘Serpentine’ (of or like a serpent or snake coil) and the rock (a dark green mineral that’s often spotted like a snake’s skin).
“The design concept was inspired by the snake, which is a symbolism of wisdom and transformation. Just like a snake, the logo and graphic device constantly morphs in shape, flexing to fit its respective space,” he added.
The typography used in the branding project are Whyte Inktrap and Decima Mono.
As for the colour palette, it was inspired from the Serpentine mineral, a snake skin, both of which have similar tones to computer code, as well as having significance in regards to the national flag.
These business cards were printed by Stitch Press and finished using green and pink foil on colorplan papers (forest and purple stock) with blind emboss.
