9133 Design Studio designed these business cards for Salary Hero, the largest Earned Wage Access platform in Thailand. It provides workers with flexible access to their wages and improves business results for both employees and employers.
Salary Hero’s mission is to propagate financial inclusion with the help of their fairly priced financial products available to everyone.
Therefore, it was 9133 Design Studio’s task to develop a brand identity that covers visual communication, a website, and of course, business cards as well.
Brand Image and Logo Design
According to 9133 Design Studio, the design goal was to emphasise the human aspect and connection that are often lacking in financial products.
This approach builds trust among the primary target audience—brown-collar workers. It focuses on simplicity to communicate the concept of earned wage access effectively, catering to both users and corporate employers.
“It was important to make the concept of earned wage access simple enough for users to understand while also speaking to corporate employers who would interact with different facets of the brand,” said the graphic designer of 9133 Design Studio.
To convey this idea, 9133 Design Studio created a logomark that features symmetrically split circles, reconfigured to form human figures interacting with the products and each other throughout the brand language!
This clever choice reinforces Salary Hero’s commitment to prioritising the human aspect of its financial wellness services.
Apart from that, the brand employs a grid of equidistant circles abstracted from a calendar format, forming the primary framework for all communication.
These circles symbolise Salary Hero’s flagship product—Earned Wage Access—and convey a sense of accessibility and convenience.
Typography
While specific details about font selections are limited, the serif lower-case logotype complements the logomark. A special customisation on the letter “y” (in Salary) mirrors the letter “h” of the word hero.
9133 Design Studio explained that English was chosen as the primary communication language for a brand primarily serving Thai-speaking users.
The overall brand language, illustrations and visual cues were kept clean and simple so that they would convey the essentials without relying too much on written explanations.
Colour Palette & Rounded Corner
Purple and white are the two main colours used for the business cards.
Purple is often associated with creativity and sophistication. When combined with white, Salary Hero’s business cards give off a clean and elegant look!
9133 Design Studio explained, “The decision stemmed from the absence of certain colours in the fintech landscape compared to competitors.”
“Additionally, purple, a colour associated with regality, was chosen. It was intended to inspire a feeling of exclusivity for the average user and convey a genuine sense of care through the app.”
“For other illustrations, red was deliberately retained for its contrast and brightness.”
The single rounded corner on one side of the business card is a clever addition to stand out. This projects a friendly vibe avoiding the overly serious tone that we regularly see in financial brands.
Also, it was carried forward as an extension from the circles/semicircles/quarter circles across the logo and brand language.
Printing of Business Cards
These business cards were locally printed in Thailand.
9133 Design Studio recommended the use of spot UV on the logo to bring a slight sheen to the monotone card.
This thoughtful final touch enhances the visual appeal while contributing to the overall professionalism and sophistication of the business cards, aligning with Salary Hero’s brand image.
