Studio leM designed these business cards for Gingin, a cocktail bar in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Gingin is a cosy intimate bar serving gins, beer, wines, cocktails and appetizing bar snacks.
Studio leM managed the brand’s visual identity, including designing its logo, business card and other applications.
“One of the most important things that our client explained in their brief was that Gingin is a space for anyone and everyone,” said the Graphic Designers at Studio leM.
“Therefore, we set some words, such as ‘playful’, ‘modern’, and ‘trendy’ as the keywords for this project and designed the brand identity.”
Logo Design & Typography
The business card design is simple but with a clever twist for the logo: the curves.
“Since the bar was located in New Regent Street, we used the arch shape of a bridge in the street to illustrate where the place originated from.”
“As for the logotype, it was very playful and fun. We used the combination of dark green and light pink that touches both the basic and the glamorous.”
The typeface used is called All Round Gothic (Bold & Demi), which gives the brand a smooth and modern vibe.
The Printing of Business Cards
When it comes to card-printing, Studio leM suggested to use matte paper with a thickness of more than 300g.
“We wanted the background to be printed with the natural texture of the paper rather than being completely covered with ink.”
“Using the organized layout, we aimed to show that all bartenders were professional on the front side of the business card.”
“On the backside, we wanted to add the playful atmosphere and energy of Gingin.”
