Débora Schöne Psychologist Business Card

Matheus Wagner designed these business cards for Débora Schöne, a psychologist who performs clinical care in Guarapuava, state of Paraná, Brazil.

“After some research and conversations with Débora, I’ve extracted good information. My intentions were to propose something different and innovative, without illustrations of brain or mandalas in the design as these are very common in the branding of psychologists,” Matheus said.

“In therapies, there are several methods of approach such as Cognitive-Behavioral, Behaviorism, Psychoanalysis and Humanism, among others. The focus of Débora’s brand was in Psychoanalysis, created by neurologist, Sigmund Freud.”

“Freud stated that this theory aimed to present the causes of mental disorders, the human development, personality and also motivations using the unconscious. That’s why I decided to make a brand totally focused on the concept of psychoanalysis, especially on two things: speech and the unconscious.”

Speaking of the colour palette, Matheus said, “It is normal to find psychologist marks in pastel colours, mainly green and purple. On the other hand, nothing prevents us from innovating with stronger tones, especially blue and orange.”

“Psychoanalysis is an approach that depends a lot on the patient talking, and for that, nothing better than having a stimulating colour like orange. In addition, dark blue is used to express knowledge and integrity.”

The typography used in the visual identity is Montserrat. “The typeface is chosen to demonstrate a friendly, cool, modern and creative brand. In addition to good readability, it is also a font with good variations and very versatile for both print and digital.”

These business cards are not printed yet. When been asked about the possible printing outcome, Matheus replied, “The card was created using the rule of thirds. I thought of something simple and, at the same time, beautiful – to be printed on coated paper 300g with finishing in matte lamination and localized varnish.”
