Atlisa Design designed these business cards for Aphradia, a skin care brand based in France.

The business card incorporates unique illustrations and typography to express a sophisticated and historical look, reminding us of the beauty and refinement of ancient Greece.

“Due to the fact that the brand owner has Greek origins from her father, she wanted to honour this heritage in her brand,” explained Anna, the founder of Atlisa Design.

“She used that to set her brand apart from other French skin care brands.”

The Greek Influence on the Brand Image

According to Anna, the design concept was based on Greek mythology.

“The brand presents itself as a peaceful, calm and elegant brand for a soft and beautiful skin like Aphrodite (the Greek goddess of love and beauty). This also inspired the brand name, Aphradia.”

“Your skin is a work of art that you need to cherish with love and care.”

“The business card has a calming effect. After seeing it, you’ll want to be lighter and prettier after looking at it. You almost feel the incredible light of the goddess on you.”

The illustration depicted on the business card is Venus, the Roman goddess of love and beauty. The pattern on the card is a meander, which is a decorative border constructed from a continuous line.

“It was a very common pattern in antiquity; the Romans and Greeks used it a lot in their architecture,” Anna added.

An Elegant Typography & Colour Palette

The typeface used for the logotype is called Kaensla.

“I just thought it had a Greek vibe to it, with a touch of sophistication and modernity. I loved it straight away and put it to good use in this brand,” Anna said.

“I wanted to combine Greek heritage with French elegance, and I think this font does it well.”

“Not only does the font convey the brand’s refinement and timeless elegance, but it also serves as a reminder of the brand’s values: excellence, fairness, history and peace.”

“As for the colours, they are pale grey, white, blue, orange and dark red. They were inspired by the Greek houses.”

These business cards haven’t been printed yet, but if they were, Anna suggested having them printed on couché paper via letterpress printing technique for a touch of sophistication.
