Andrea Maxwell designed these business cards for Caribee Sign Company Plus, a company that specializes in interior and exterior signage, ADA compliant signs, lighted signs, fleet vehicle graphics, engraving, plaques & awards, and apparel. It is based in Lemay, Missouri.
“The business card was designed for an individual sales representative, Brian Grass, who takes a lot of initiative to help Caribee stand out in their industry,” Andrea said.
“Caribee provided their logo and brand elements, such as the hexagon pattern and Pantone colours, and it was important to stay consistent with their visual identity while doing something new and different for them.”
Andrea also created a friendly bee mascot to be used for special promotional materials, and hopefully to be later made into a costume for events.
Explaining the inspiration behind the unique business card design, Andrea said, “We wanted to create a card that would break the usual mold, and feel more like a collector’s card or token – something that would communicate to their clients that their work is quality, bold and unique.”
“That influenced the unusual shape and size, thickness, coloured edges, debossing, and special finish.”
“We fully embraced the hexagon motif in the shape of the card, and spot gloss details on the emblem.”
The typeface used in the visual identity are Gotham Book and Gotham Bold.
The Printing of Business Cards
These business cards were printed by Silkcards. According to Andrea, the cards are 32pt in thickness, with a smooth matte silk finish and spot UV accents.
“The large emblem is debossed, and all orange elements, including the painted edge, are in PMS Orange 021. I ordered a 2.5″ square card, and a standard die-cut was used for the hexagon shape, which brought the dimensions to 2.165″ by 2.5″.”
Overall, this is an eye-catching business card design that’s destined to stand out!
