Bardot business cards

Bardot Bistro Business Card

Brett King and Gra Monteleone designed these business cards for Bardot, a casual bistro brasserie in the heart of Helsinki.

“Bardot was founded by Hans Välimäki, one of Finland’s most accomplished chefs. Since his Michelin-starred days, he’s been focusing more on the simpler, more casual but still delicious cuisine,” Brett said.

“Together with his wife Maria, their latest venture Bardot is an homage to the classic French and Mediterranean kitchen.”

The brand name, Bardot, was inspired by the one and only BB and to live up to its new name, Brett and Gra created a fun and rebellious brand identity with ‘je ne regrette rien’ (which means ‘I regret nothing ‘) attitude.

The design concept was inspired by Matisse meets street art: the works of painter and printmaker Henri Matisse and the indulgence and beautiful scenes of the French Riviera, the Mediterranean coast of southeastern France.

“Accompanied with French scribbles with hidden messages, nostalgic 1960s collages and colourful sea creatures, the classic brasserie turns into a laid-back meeting spot for dinners, lunches or cocktails that does not take itself too seriously,” Brett added.

As a matter of fact, the same concept can be seen on the business card design through the colourful shapes and a timeless typography, a modified version of Self modern by Lucas Le Bihan.

They are all meant to give the brand a nostalgic yet elegant feel!

These business cards were printed by Framme on GF Smith Zen 350gsm paper using pantones; texts and logo applied with matt gold foil.
